On January 2024, De Pinto accepted an invitation from Domenico Quaranta to exhibit some of his digital works through a truly particular display. That is the Philips Tableaux. It use a technology similar to that of e-book readers. More precisely this technology uses e-ink to generate the so called e-paper; a technology designed to imitate the appearance of ink on a normal sheet of paper.
Like any “ePaper” technology, it does not emit light and even when the display is disconnected from the electricity the digital image is still visible as if it were a painting or a print on paper. Even when loading content and changing the image, power consumption is really kept to a minimum.
Here, therefore, we are not looking for maximum resolution and spectacular color saturation, due to the light emitted by the display, rather we are aiming for a use that also looks to an increasingly eco-sustainable future.
The images uploaded and seen up close take on their own artistic form which stimulates the creativity of those who upload the contents and fascinates those who see the result.
Domenico Quaranta is collecting this kind of works on a Philips Tableaux, as a gift from Philips, a thank you for his participation to the Jury of the first MUSE Digital Art Award, which invited artists to submit images adapted to the device’s specifications, and engaging the topic of The Energy for Tomorrow.
